Every day, shelter dogs wake up hoping to finally meet their human and fall in love with them.

Hungry for love and affection, the shelter’s puppies try to attract the attention of visitors as soon as they see them approaching their kennels. Most canines start barking and wagging their tails in hopes of getting attention.

Rudy was one of the quiet shelter dogs who sat in his kennel with his sad eyes fixed on the people passing by. The lovely Pit Bull mix was rejected by his family and desperately needed someone to talk to him and tell him he is worthy.

One of the people who entered the  in Pennsylvania that day was a volunteer named Stephanie. She was grieving the loss of her heart’s dog, Hank, and she came to help the shelter puppies and give them the love they were missing.

As he walked to the shelter, he noticed that all the dogs were barking loudly except for one dog named Rudy. The thoughtful look on his face immediately caught his attention and melted his heart.

“…He’s just sitting there looking at me, almost like he’s saying please come talk to me.

Stephanie became sad after hearing Rudy’s story. She used to have a family that adopted him. After giving him hope and taking him home, they decided they didn’t want him anymore.

They hurt his feelings after they left him on the street.He was wandering the area alone, trying to find scraps of food to survive.

Fortunately, the Humanitarian Police found him and took him in. Rudy was in a terrible state; He was very underweight and his body was covered in fleas.

Stephanie understood the sad look on his face and began spending more time with him, taking him for walks and talking to him.

Little by little she fell in love with him. She and her husband, Matt, decided to take him in with the intention of adopting him. She wanted to help him regain his trust and help him become a happy puppy.

Rudy left the shelter and got into Stephanie’s car. The puppy was relaxed and he trusted her so much that he rested her little head on her shoulder.Stephanie was delighted.

The next morning, Stephanie became very worried about Rudy’s health when she saw that he was biting his feet. She immediately called the shelter and they reassured her, saying that Rudy probably had a food allergy.

He realized he couldn’t take Rudy back to the shelter.He needed her and she was determined to help him figure out what was causing her allergies.

Rudy was given fur and saliva tests.

“…I started seeing what was coming across and I started removing those things,”  Stephanie said.

He seemed to be getting better. After Stephanie noticed her weight fluctuating, she decided to get a microbiome test. That turned out to be a turning point for her because she found out that Rudy had some food sensitivities.

After the resilient canine began avoiding foods he was sensitive to, 

Both Stephanie and Matt showered Rudy with love, and the pup loves cuddling with his parents. With his adorable kisses he lets them know how much he adores them.

“At night he will take turns cuddling us. She goes up to daddy, snuggles and after a while, like eight o’clock every night, she comes and snuggles with me,”  Stephanie said.

Although Rudy has gained confidence, he still needs some reassurance.

Whenever he thinks he’s done something wrong,  he wants his parents to hold him back.He needs to know that he is okay.

Stephanie is grateful to Rudy because he taught her many things. He helped her cope with the loss of Hank, whom she will love forever. Rudy carved out his own space in his heart.

“I would like to thank Rudy for finding me and teaching me to be kind not only to my pain but also to him and that he is enough. You don’t have to fill those shoes. “You have your own.”

The adorable pup often posts cute photos on  about his adventures and sweet moments with his parents and his cat siblings, Winnie, Boris, and Ty.

Rudy loves hiking in the woods of Berks County, Pennsylvania. He also likes to go for walks with his dog friend, Gracie.

We are happy that Rudy is living his best life. He knows that he will never again be rejected and abandoned. He and his mother have completed each other’s lives.
