A family affected by a wildfire in Oregon finds joy after firefighters rescue their beloved dog.

A wildfire that started over the weekend in central Oregon caused widespread damage to homes and buildings. The Oregon Fire Department reported that the fire destroyed 43 houses and 40 adjacent buildings. Internet and emergency services were interrupted, and hundreds of people were forced to flee their homes.

The Sister-Sherman Camp, one of the firefighting response departments, sent engines to Bly, Oregon, but found an unexpected friend among the rubble.

According to a Facebook post, firefighter/paramedic David Ward found a dog wandering alone and appeared lost. The dog has become a “quick friend” of the firefighters who care for it while they continue working.

Fortunately, the dog and the crew, who were wearing an identification collar, were able to get in touch with their owner. The dog’s name was Ladybird, and she was soon reunited with her family.

Everyone thanked the firefighters for saving the dog and safely bringing her home.

This is a grateful, fortunate, and happy dog. Congratulations to all dog owners who have an instant identification card!” wrote a commentator.

“Caring for Ladybird and reuniting her with her people will make you a hero!”
