In the months since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce went public with their relationship, everyone has had an opinion about the power couple.
The negative comments tend to attract the most attentionâwhich is why retired NFL player J.J. Wattâs strong message about the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his pop superstar girlfriend is so refreshing.
Watt, who retired from the NFL after the 2022 season and is currently an NFL analyst for CBS Sports, recently opened up about the massive amount of attention Swift and Kelceâs romance has attracted at Chiefs games this season.
âI think itâs great. I canât understand why people are so upset about it,â Watt told Us Weekly on Monday, Jan. 29. âI mean, they show celebrities at games all the time. Donât act like we donât show male celebrities at games all the time. I donât really understand why itâs caused such an uproar.â
The former defensive end continued: âI mean, sheâs literally there supporting her significant other, and thatâs what you should do as a significant other. So I think that itâs great.â
Because Swift has attracted so many new NFL fansâwho likely would not have watched professional football otherwiseâWatt said the increased interest âshould be nothing but celebrated.â
Watt isnât the only former NFL player/coach to weigh in on the media frenzy surrounding Kelce and Swiftâs romance. Hall-of-Famer Tony Dungy suggested the âCruel Summerâ songstress was part of what was âdisenchanting people with sports now.â Meanwhile, retired NFL player Shannon Sharpe shared a pointed message about Swiftâs impact on the sport.
Celebrities and athletes from other sports realms have also shared their two cents about Swift and Kelce. From Lamar Odomâs dating advice to Jessie James Deckerâs bold prediction about their relationship to The View co-hosts debating Kelceâs âred flags,â there is no shortage of opinions.
Thankfully, Kelce said he and Swift are able to tune out âanything thatâs outside noiseââso hopefully, they continue to do so.
Taylor Swift âWasnât Happyâ With The âNastyâ Things Brittany Mahomes Said About Her In Old Resurfaced Tweets
Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift set social media ablaze when they were seen cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium. They even went as far as to come up with their own dance and handshake.
The two became such good pals as Brittany is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Taylor is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Around the time their friendship started to blossom, Mahomes was being slammed for deleting old Tweets where she bashed the âLove Storyâ singer Taylor Swift for her music.
One user screenshotted the Tweets before she deleted them, and shared them to social media demanding an apology from Brittany.
âYou know what would be a lot more meaningful than Brittany Mahomes deleted her Taylor hate Tweets? Brittany making a public apology to Jackson [Mahomes]âs SA victim for trying to silence her,â the fan wrote alongside the deleted Tweets from Brittany.
Fast forward to after the season and we are now getting Swiftâs reaction to those tweets.
âTaylor wasnât happy,â reveals a source. âSheâs used to people saying nasty things about her, but this was someone sheâs welcomed into her squad.â
Life & Styleâs source further added that Swift was mortified by the resurfaced tweets and quickly deleted them. Luckily, Brittany explained she was just a teenager at the time and they let the situation go.
âBrittany explained to Taylor that she was just a stupid teenager and how sorry she was,â the source says. âTaylor was very understanding and decided to just let bygones be bygones.â
The report also added that her having a sour relationship with the wife of the quarterback who is best friends with her boyfriend wouldnât be a good idea.
âTravis and Patrick are very tight,â notes the source, âand Taylorâs not going to do anything that would put Travis in an awkward spot.â
The Chiefs are fresh off winning the Super Bowl for the second-straight season.
