It’s incredible the amount of abuse that pets suffer, who are not to blame for being in the wrong place with the wrong people. In most cases of abuse, animals are judged and punished even worse than humans.

Even though they don’t reason like humans, animals are quite intelligent, so with a little help and patience, they are capable of incredible things. Moreover, their actions are guided by instinct, and their intentions are not usually twisted. If they feel threatened, they will seek to defend themselves; it’s something natural for them.

And yet, they are very compassionate animals who, despite having suffered abuse, continue to trust people, even after being abandoned by those who are supposed to take care of them. Exactly that was the case of a dog known as Puppy, according to the neighbors of the apartment where he was found.

Puppy, a Shih Tzu of around three years old, was found in the apartment where his owners used to live in Londonderry, New Hampshire, after they left without informing their landlord. The landlord decided to check the abandoned place and found this strange and tangled ball of fur.

When the little dog was found, it was impossible to tell what breed he was because his hair was long and tangled to the point that the small Shih Tzu couldn’t even walk properly and probably couldn’t see anything at all. The landlord immediately called the authorities to take charge of the situation.

The Londonderry County police, who responded to the call, were able to see the extent of the dog’s injuries. It is estimated that this little one spent a few weeks alone before being rescued, during which time he only ate what he could find scattered on the apartment floor. Additionally, the poor dog constantly bumped into everything around him due to his lack of vision.

At the time Puppy was taken to the veterinarian to have all his matted fur shaved off, a clearer diagnosis could be made. The dog suffers from deafness and blindness, which was likely caused by rubbing his eyes due to all the tangled hair around him. He was also treated for dislocated knees, anemia, and an infected part of his skin.

Overall, the dog is very gentle and affectionate with humans. There are no signs of physical abuse against the dog. It appears that all the ailments stem from gross negligence,” commented Chris Olson of the Londonderry Police Department.
