According to scientists who flew to Kazakhstan for the purpose of studying them, these spheres were created by huge concretions. Scientists believe these spheres of massive stone are the “ancestors,” of more recent spheres discovered in Costa Rica and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Nonetheless, geological theories range from megaspherulites – crystalline balls formed in volcanic ash and subsequently weathered by erosion – to cannonball concretions – a process in which sediment tends to build around a more solid core. Scientists suspect that the stone ‘balls,’ which are not identical in size, are most likely formed through a combination of several geological processes.”
