Catherine Smith has been an animal lover for many years. Recently, she decided it was time for her dog to have puppies. Lucy is a beautiful furry cream-colored Labrador and she got along wonderfully with another black Labrador that belongs to Catherine’s best friend.

A couple of months later, a visit to the vet confirmed that several puppies were on the way.

Catherina lives in the town of Taunton in England.

Catherine works as a waitress part-time, every time she left work she prepared the house for the moment of delivery. Fortunately, everything went well but Lucy surprised everyone with a very particular detail: all the puppies were born completely black.

In total the litter was 13 puppies.

Catherine thought Lucy had given birth to all of her puppies after puppy number 6 but back then she was only getting close to halfway through all of her babies. She would sometimes spend a couple of minutes regaining her strength and then she would go back into labor.

“This is the first time I have had a dog give birth. I thought there would be a maximum of 6. It all started at 11:50 and ended at 4:30,” Catherine explained.

Now, Caterine has had a very busy few days at home. Having so many furry dogs is not an easy task, together they eat up to 15 kilos of dog per week. Little ones have a lot of energy and when they start playing and getting into mischief they are the best play sessions.

“I think Lucy was also wondering where so many puppies were coming from,” Caterine joked.

The puppies will remain with their mother for the first few months to obtain food and grow healthy and strong. This is of vital importance for their health and they will also be able to share some time with their siblings and thus learn to socialize with other dogs. They were all purchased so in a couple of weeks they will be moving into their new homes.

The dogs’ father is an 8-year-old Labrador named Bastion.

The images of Lucy and her puppies are adorable but we must remember the importance of adopting. There are many dogs on the street who urgently need a new opportunity to lead a life where they lack nothing. If you want to open the doors of your home to a pet, adopting will always be the best option.
